This is the second of three batik flower wallhangings that I've created. These are hot pink to purple astors. This wallhanging was also included in the Celebration juried art show at the United Methodist Church in Grand Rapids Michigan. I hope you enjoy the bright blooms of summer! This wall hanging / table center piece is one of my favorites. It is a Celtic cross design on a oriental batik background. I used a purple bias print for the Celtic design and machine sewed the tape onto the background. Machine quilting that mimics the Celtic design fills the space from design to the outside boarder. Fire Within:(upper photos) This wall hanging / table center piece was created to reflect the warmth of a winter fire. Batiks were used to create the effect of fire through a Celtic cross design. Machine quilting was completed in red with black on black print for the backing. This created a unique stitch design on the back of this piece. A wall hanging with a stained glass design that can be various shades of a color ( similar to this example) or pieces of stained glass colors (red, green, blue, yellow). The design is created by wrapping ¼” bias binding around the colored material to create a leaded glass look. The quilting is a stitch in the ditch design created by machine stitching along the bias tape finished edge and then ¼” to the outside edge. An heirloom quilt any little boy would love. Each train car is machine appliquéd to the sunny sky background with coordinating thread. Wheels are then appliquéd using black thread to ensure focus on the colorful cars. The quilt top is then constructed and a quilt sandwich is created using cotton batting and a cozy flannel backing. I then machine quilted by outlining and embellishing each train car using coordinating thread. The small boarder is quilted to look like train tracks and the outside boarder is quilted in a train crossing patteren. Quilt materials can be any color combination to coordinate with room color and design. Cost: $350.00 plus materials. Materials will cost $75 - $100. Size: 44” Wide X 57” Long |     |

As you can see these placemats can be created in many unique color combinations using batiks and/or printed cottons. All you need is a light and dark color choice. They can be quilted in a number of different designs with either coordinating or contrasting thread. Just let me know what colors and how many placemats you’d like!!!
